BATTERY REBATE FOR WA HOMES
READY TO STORE YOUR SOLAR AND SAVE EVEN MORE?
From 1 July 2025, WA homeowners can get up to $5,000 back on a new home battery setup.
From 1 July 2025, WA homeowners can get up to $5,000 back on a new home battery setup. If you’re eligible, you could also score an interest-free loan of up to $10,000 to help cover the cost of getting it installed. This new, government-backed initiative is a first-of-its-kind partnership between State and Federal programs, designed to make battery storage more accessible than ever.
Rebates are capped and demand is expected to be high, so planning early means a better chance of accessing the full benefit.
Getting ahead of the rush means you’ll have more time to plan, more choice, and the best chance to choose the right solution for your WA home.
Take control of your power
Adding a battery to your home gives you more control over how and when you use your energy. Instead of sending your solar back to the grid for cents, you can store it and use it when it counts – at night, during outages, or when energy prices spike.
Here’s what battery storage means for your WA home:
- Keep your own energy: Store what your panels produce and use it when you need it most.
- Power through blackouts: Stay switched on, even when the grid goes down.
- No more bill shock: Reduce what you buy from the grid and dodge peak pricing.
- Smarter solar returns: Make the most of your existing system by storing, not exporting.
It’s not just an upgrade. It’s a smarter way to power your life.
What the rebate and loan will cover
- Up to $5,000 back for eligible Synergy and Horizon Power customers. (Based on $500 per kilowatt-hour, capped at 10 kWh)
- Interest-free loans up to $10,000 for eligible households. (Starts 1 July 2025 and will be rolled out in several stages)
Is your home eligible?
To qualify, you must:
- Own a residential property in WA
- Have an active Synergy or Horizon Power electricity account
- Install a system with at least 5 kWh of storage
- Use a battery that is Virtual Power Plant (VPP) ready
- Be a lower to middle income household
The rebate is available to all eligible households, while the loan will be means-tested to support lower and middle-income homes.

“Couldn’t fault this company. From signing to installation. Brett and his installation team had a difficult job installing our solar in a very limited roof space. They never once complained or seemed aggravated, they just had a let’s go steady response and we will get their attitude.”
Judy, Perth.
FAQ's
How much does a solar battery cost in WA?
The average solar battery system ranges between $8,000 – $14,000 depending on the brand, capacity and setup. The new WA battery rebate and interest-free loan can reduce this significantly, making it much more affordable for homeowners.
Is battery storage worth it if I already have solar?
Yes. A battery lets you store excess solar instead of sending it to the grid. That means lower bills, more self-sufficiency, and better value from the solar you already have.
Will a battery keep my home powered during blackouts?
Most modern systems offer blackout protection, especially when paired with a hybrid inverter. We’ll help you choose a system that suits your power needs and backup priorities.
How long do solar batteries last?
Most lithium-ion solar batteries last 10–15 years and come with solid warranties. We only install trusted, long-lasting systems from leading brands like Sungrow, BYD and Tesla.
How do I know if I qualify for the rebate or loan?
